YUNGAY

Continuing the way towards the north, happening the Field Santo Yungay, in a space defended by hills against possible new originating alluviums of the Huascarán, has risen the new city of Yungay.

In the environs Sugar Bread rises to the hill, where in 1839 the battle of Yungay took place, next to the torrent of the Ancash river. There it concluded the Confederation Peruvian-Bolivian, to the being defeated the forces of Bolivian general Santa Cruz. Indeed this battle gave the name him of Ancash to the department, that before was called Huaylas.

The zone of Yungay; of tempered climate, the hunting of deer, doves is propiciapara, vizcachas and ducks, as well as for the fishing of trouts.

yungay, is the capital of the province of the same name, is the departure point to visit the lagoons of Llanganuco and to ascend to the Snow-covered Huascaran.
