HUARAZ
Huaraz is the capital of the department of Ancash, its altitude is of 3.080 meters on the level of the sea, is one of the most important cities of the mountain range of Peru.
Huaraz has the titles of the VERY GENEROUS CITY OF HUARAZ, by his sacrificed and decided support to the cause of the Independence of America (1824).

From all the points of the snow-covered imposing city the White Mountain range with its tropical ones can be appreciated.
From Huaraz it divides for the west Saving the Black Mountain range, a hard road that it leaves to the coast by the city of Casma, this route becomes in four or five hours in comfortable form.

ANCASH MUSEUM ARQUEOLOGICO
Located in the Av. Luzuriaga 762. Tel. (043) 72-1551. The visits are of Monday to Sabado of 9:00-17:00, Sundays of 9:00-14:00.
In the place it exists an important collection of stone sculptures of the Recuay culture, as well as pieces of ceramics and textiles of the cultures preíncas Chavín, White Huarás on Red, Mochica, Wari and Chimú.
SANCTUARY OF THE GENTLEMAN OF THE SOLITUDE
Located in the Square of the Gentleman of the Solitude. Tel. (043) 72-8878. Visits of Monday to Sunday of 8:00-13:00 and 15:00-18:00.
Constructed after the 1970 earthquake, it keeps the image from the Gentleman of the Solitude, patrono of the city of Huarás, whose image dates from the time of the foundation of the city, in century XVI.
REST ARQUEOLOGICOS OF WAULLAC
To 2 km to the east of Huaraz (5 minutes in car).
Waullac is an archaeological site that dates from the time preínca and belongs to the Wari period (600 d.C). One would be a place of funeral use made up of five stone structures that resemble small niches.
CHURUP LAGOON
At 28 km to the east of Huaraz (1 hour and 30 minutes in car), it is arrived until the locality of Pitec; from it is walked there by 2 hours more.
The lagoon is surrounded by queñuales, quisuares and ichu. In the environs typical species of the Andean fauna like vizcachas can be observed, wild cats and diverse species of birds, like the wild ducks.
REST ARQUEOLOGICOS OF WILLCAHUAIN And ICHIC WILLCAHUAIN
To 7 km to the northeast of Huaraz(35 minutes in car or 3 hours on foot).
It is a sample of the Wari architecture, that was developed now in which we called Average Horizon (700 a.C - 100 d.C). The buildings present/display a network of galleries in their interior and were used like spaces for offerings.
NATIONAL PARK HUASCARAN
Diverse entrances to the park exist, according to the interest of the visitors. Variants, between which they emphasize the entrance by the Llanganuco sector, where are the lagoons Chinancocha (of a beautiful turquesa color) and Orconconcha; and the entrance by the sector Carp, that allows the access to the snow-covered Pastoruri.
The Park was created in 1975, with the purpose of conserving the geologic flora and the wild fauna, archaeological formation, rest and scenic beauties and was declared Natural Patrimony of the Humanity by UNESCO in 1985. Within his 340,000 it has, that includes/understands almost all the White Mountain range, is possible to be appreciated a great variety of vegetal species altoandinas, as the Puya Raimondi in the zones of Quesque and Pumapampa (whose inflorescencia is considered greatest of the vegetal kingdom and once it blooms, it dies) and the queñuales in the lagoons of Llanganuco.
Between the 296 lagoons that the park has those of Parón, Cullicocha, Llanganuco, Auquiscocha, Rajucolta, Querococha and Cuchillococha stand out. Of his 663 glaciers they emphasize the Huascarán (6768 msnm), the Huandoy (6395 msnm), the Chopicalqui (6354 msnm), the Hualcán (6122 msnm) and the Alpamayo (5947 msnm).
Between the animals they honor the bear of eyeglasses, taruca and the Andean cóndor (the three species in extinction danger), puma, the deer, the Andean cat and a diversity of birds.
