THE CIRCULAR PLATFORMS OF MORAY

Moray is to 3.500 msnm, is located to 74 km of the city of the Cusco. He is famous by the sunk amphitheatre, formed by four circular platforms that seem to disappear inside puna, to way of an artificial crater. Apparently, the place constituted an agricultural research center Inca dedicated to the experimentation of cultures around the different altitudinales levels from its parcels (some to more than 100 ms of depth). Andenerías, constructed on filled up with fertile earth and watered retaining walls by means of complex systems of irrigation, allowed to cultivate more than 250 vegetal species.

The disposition of its platforms produces a microclimate gradient highly having the center of the concentric circular platforms one more a temperature and being reduced gradually towards the outside to lower temperatures, being able of this form to simulate up to 20 different types from microclimates. One thinks that Moray also could have served like model for the calculation of nonsingle the agricultural production of the Valley of the Urubamba but of different parts from the Tahuantinsuyo.

The enormous circular platforms of Moray are located to 53 km of the Cusco by the highway that leads to the valley of the Urubamba. Moray is to 7 kilometers of Maras, in the Sacred Valley of the Incas.
